Hallo liebe Spam-Gemeinde,
Nach meinem Umzug in die Staaten bin ich nun auch wieder zurück in der Online-Welt.
Meinen PC hab ich mir hinterher schicken lassen und nun funktioniert FAST alles wieder.

Statt DSL gibt es nun CABLE ..... und da liegt auch wohl mein Problem.
Nachdem ich erfolglos versucht habe, Mails über meinen Mailclienten zu verschicken, bin ich auf folgendes Problem gestossen:

Mein ISP blockiert Port 25, um Spammern das Leben zu erschweren. Ob das Sinn macht, darüber läßt sich bestimmt gut streiten, jedenfalls kann ich nun keine Mails mehr verschicken.

Ich habe bis jetzt vergeblich versucht, dieses Problem zu umgehen.
In meinem Mailclienten hab ich den SMTP Port auf 587 umgestellt, jedoch ohne Erfolg. Firewall deaktiviert, daran kanns auch nicht liegen. Hat noch jmd eine Idee?

HI Quellcore, erklär aber erst mal was du einzurichten versuchst.

Indem du nur am Mailclient einen Port umstellst kann gar nichts funktionieren, es müssen ja immer 2 Ports zusammen passen (zB Mail-Client und SMTP-Server).

Auf jeden Fall kannst du SMTP über SSL versuchen weil das manchmal über einen andernen Port geht.

I have not heard of any ISPs that block port 25. That sounds very strange to me. Also, I don't have DSL or cable. I have a slow 56k modem. Therefore I do not know if I can help you. Who is your ISP in the U.S? Maybe I can help you research this problem.

Ich möchte einfach wieder Mails mit meinem Mailclienten verschicken können.
In einigen englischen Beiträgen zu dieser Problematik wurde immer wieder davon gesprochen, einfach den Port auf 587 im Mailclienten zu ändern.
SSL hab ich eben mal versucht, leider auch nix!

It also sounded strange to me, but they block it, in fact sevral ISP's in the States do it already.
My ISP is Optimum Online

I'm still struggling, does anybody know if there are any bad sideeffects by using their outgoing mail server!? Are there any security issues because i have to turn off "Authentication Required"?

Hi Quellcore,

I tried to research this problem but Optimum Online doesn't make it easy for someone to ask questions if they don't have an account with them. I was able to ask a couple questions, so I will let you know if they send an answer back to me.

I looked at the links that you provided and I think it will work to use their non-authenticated SMTP server. I don't think it will cause any problems. Have you tried it yet? I think the authorization issue only affects who can use the SMTP server. It shouldn't cause any security issues with your e-mails.

My ServerTester-Plugin will recognize it as spam. Depending on the technique your mail-provider uses (SenderID, RMX, SPF,...) other receipients will also threat is as spam.

No. But the receipients can not anymore belive you are the sender of the mail.
